The 5th Annual Famous Dave's BBQ & Blues Festival was Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Peavey Plaza in downtown Minneapolis.
Free outdoor festival featured Tinsley Ellis, Bernard Allison, Ana Popovic, two acoustic sets by Corey Stevens and much more at the Fifth Annual bash.
Famous Dave's BBQ & Blues Festival marked the milestone “fifth annual” mark with a lineup of outstanding live blues on two stages. The Fifth Annual Famous Dave’s BBQ & Blues Festival was Saturday, June 13, 2009 from Noon to 10:30 p.m. on Peavey Plaza at 11th and Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis. Ten acts performed throughout the day, including Main Stage stars Tinsley Ellis, Bernard Allison, Ana Popovic, Big Daddy Cade’s Tribute to B.B. King, Shannon Curfman and Levee Town. The Juke Joint stage featured very special acoustic sets by Corey Stevens, plus Nikki & The RueMates, The Dean Weisser Band and Brandon Scott Sellner.
The Famous Dave’s BBQ & Blues Festival has become one of the Twin Cities largest free outdoor music events, drawing thousands of fans to the vibrant downtown location. The festival is one of the first big outdoor concert events of the summer in the Twin Cities, and the crowds seem to trade in the bad weather blues for the good stuff. Famous Dave’s is on site at Peavey Plaza all day selling its award-winning BBQ, and beer, wine and other beverages are available for purchase. All Famous Dave's restaurants prominently feature recorded blues music. The Calhoun Square Famous Dave's BBQ & Blues in Uptown has presented the best in live blues since opening in 1996.
2008 - The legend of Famous Dave’s BBQ & Blues Festival continued in 2008 with the 4th annual installment. Since the inaugural event in 2005, the “Blues Fest” has grown to more than double in size, and over 25,000 hungry Blues Fans were in attendance at the June 7, 2008 event. Each year the festival is held in the heart of downtown Minneapolis on the Peavey Plaza, a terraced area outside of the city’s Orchestra Hall.
In 2008, fans were treated to the free outdoor event with a lineup of outstanding national and Twin Cities-based blues acts on two stages--including the talents of Moses Oakland, Willie West, Big Jay McNeely, Andrew “Jr. Boy” Jones, Ronn Easton, Smokin’ Joe Kubek & Bnois King, Ron Thompson, and more! Some of the acts also performed at Famous Dave’s BBQ & Blues Club, located in Calhoun Square Shopping Center. Mouth-watering barbequed ribs and ice cold beverages were sold by our award-winning traveling Rib Team.
